AIDS Epidemic Worsening:

The Gay Lobby Destroys the Hope of America

By Rabbi David Eidensohn

The CDC HIV/STD/TB Prevention News, of January 4, 2,001, reveals a grim picture of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in America. It also illustrates why a country with so much medical knowledge and public health personnel cannot stop the growth of HIV/AIDS. "The nation's health departments reported 42,008 new cases in 2001, up 8 percent from the 38,864 in 2000…New York City had a 47-percent increase." All STD, or Sexually Transmitted Diseases, are controlled by reporting and quarantine. Reporting means that someone who goes to a doctor for treatment of syphilis, or another STD, is reported, and must report all partners. If the person continues infecting, the health department can quarantine him. This works. Why doesn't it work with HIV/AIDS? It has not been tried. From the beginning of the HIV epidemic decades ago, the Gay Lobby pressured gay-lobby states to make HIV Confidentiality Laws, which prevent regular public health epidemiologists from using their conventional and effective tools to stop the epidemic. In New York State, neither HIV nor AIDS are on the list of infectious diseases. Such an Alice in Wonderland attitude guarantees the worst. This explains the 47-percent leap in AIDS in New York City in one year! Now New York City comes begging for help from the Federal Government, and they get it, 20 billion dollars worth, but that is just to restore the city. How can it afford an AIDS epidemic when medicine costs 12 thousand dollars, just for one person's annual dosage?

How does the government fight HIV? It asks the Gay Lobby what to do, and they demand money for "education." The gays then take the millions of dollars for "education," and "educate" their way. In the above newsletter is a separate article about the San Francisco gay organization called STOP AIDS, which received from the government $698,000 in fiscal 2000. It took this money to "educate," and it did so by promoting the opposite. The practice is now under the scrutiny of Inspector General Janet Rehnquist (daughter of the Chief Justice). She found that events they promoted were "inappropriate, potentially obscene and appeared to directly promote sexual activity." Paying the gays to "educate" about HIV was attacked by physician Congressman Dave Weldon (R-Florida) who asked, "Where's the data that all the billions we spent over the last 10 years have slowed or stemmed the spread of this disease?"

Statistics from the CDC HIV Testing (AR/EM—United States, 1999), show that among those of all races with HIV high risk behavior, 27% had never tested for AIDS. When asked if, in the past year when they engaged in risky behavior, they tested for HIV, blacks replied "yes" by 49%, Hispanics replied "yes" by 28.8%, and white replied "yes" by the lowest amount, 28.5%. The whites, by the way, are the most powerful and oldest gay organizations, and they cull the most money for "educating" people to test voluntarily.

The Gay Lobby has taken the American health dollar and squandered it, not stopping disease but spreading it. Billions of dollars that are the hope of our future are spent on gays and produce not solutions but more disease and death.

The latest statistics from the federal Center of Disease Controls tell the following:

Ø      800,000-900,000 people in America have HIV. This is only an estimate, because the government has been prevented by the HIV Confidentiality Laws from controlling the disease and finding out who is sick. This government policy allows sections of the population to produce babies with HIV, and thrust them upon the public for enormously expensive care, not to mention the agony of the baby.

Ø      There are about 40,000 new HIV infections each year. Consider that a much lesser disease, syphilis, controlled by the government, produced, in 1999, only 35,600 cases.

Ø      The new medication for HIV costs 12k just for the medications, and when we add doctors costs, blood tests, etc. the figure jumps, we can assume that 40,000 HIV cases will cost a pretty penny, at least half a billion dollars, just for one year. Considering that HIV drugs can prolong a life today, for every ten years these sick people live, it will cost five billion dollars. If they live fifty years, surely a reasonable assumption, it will cost $25,000,000,000. This does not include related costs such as welfare.

Ø      The HIV Confidentiality Bills passed a generation ago allowed gays to infect others with HIV without being reported or quarantined. The logic of the HIV Confidentiality Laws is that if the health department found out that someone had HIV, they would assume that the person was gay, and this information, if released, could lead to discrimination. However, if the purpose of the law was to help minorities, it has failed, because the CDC reports that 54% of new cases of HIV are among blacks and Hispanics. There are also a thirty percent of the new cases that are women. We thus destroy the blacks, women and Hispanics, collectively a very large percentage of the population, for the 2% of gays. This logic is typical of all American gay policies. Everything and everyone is insignificant to counterbalance gay demands. What gays want is what gays get.

Ø      Thirty years ago when there was hope of easily containing the disease, the gays promised that if instead of reporting sick people the government would give money to gay organizations to educate homosexuals about safe sex, there would be no epidemic. The CDC statistics tell another story. Of the 40,000 new HIV cases in America, 42% are MSM, or male-to-male sex. The gays took huge sums of money and with them did not educate gays; they educated everyone about the glories of being gay, and thus spread the epidemic.

Ø      Women are 30% of new HIV cases. Of them 75% are heterosexual and 25% are Internal Drug Users. The 75% of heterosexual women trusted in their partner and will suffer for it. How foolish these women were to trust that their government would control a ravaging disease. One infected man can literally infect dozens of women, but nobody is canceling the HIV Confidentiality Laws. Where is NOW? Where do you think it is? Gay rights, to these radical women, are more important that the health of women. This is not so surprising, but when the state of New York, with a Republican Senate, also believes that women should die to free gays to infect, we wonder.

Ø      As of December 2000, 8,908 AIDS cases have been reported among children 12 years and younger, according to the CDC. The expense for the medication for an adult is around 12,000 dollars a year, just for the medicine, and associated costs raise the total. For children it is much more. However, even by the adult standard, these children, who will probably live beyond fifty years, will require at least eight billion dollars. Of course, that does not include doctors, tests, hospitals, etc., which will be more billions. Moreover, because they became sick early in life, the complications and thus costs are much more than for adults.

If the money spent and wasted on gays had spent on heart disease, cancer, diabetes and schizophrenia in the past generation, millions of sick Americans would have relief. If we had treated HIV like every other disease and forced gays to practice safe sex like everyone else, Americans would now be able to afford health insurance. If public health had treated HIV like every STD, it would have been controlled, instead of the incredible forty thousand new cases every year, many of them babies.

There must be uproar to protest the surrender of America to the gay lobby. The latest Center for Disease Control of the Federal Government's plan for HIV does not even mention zero tolerance for AIDS, and indeed, the goals, more than anything else, indicate the complete failure of the government's program to fight AIDS. For instance, Goal 2 is: "By 2005, through voluntary counseling and testing, increase from the current estimated 70% to 95% the proportion of HIV-infected people in the United States who know they are infected." In simple language this means that today 5-30% of those in America infected with HIV don't even know they are infected! This means that they go and infect others. Each infected person costs an enormous amount, and the government pays for it, with tax dollars. Yet, no goal is stated to find out all of the infected people. It is not even a goal. Revocation of the HIV Confidentiality Laws could make it one.

Note the sad goal of achieving this, of telling people they are infected, by "voluntary counseling and testing," which has never worked and wont' work. Why don't we recognize that already? Is this the Bush administration CDC? Yes, that is really the sad part. The HIV Confidentiality Laws are part of the political process, and both parties have their hands soaked in blood and the hemorrhage of the government dollar to gays.

The Preface of the CDC HIV plan states a very chilling fact: "Although the number of new infections has been static [40,000 new cases a year], the epidemic itself has not. In addition to the groups that have been a highest risk since the beginning of the epidemic—men who have sex with men and infection drug users—new populations are increasingly at risk for HIV infection, particularly racial and ethnic minorities, women, and adolescents." In other words, the epidemic is not curtailed, after billions of dollars and enormous energies; rather it spreads into entirely new populations, including the young. It is all so simple. We could declare HIV a disease and solve it, or we can let the gays define disease, and pay them to do it. We pay with them with our treasure, and many lives. We pay them to control our medical programs, our health, and the hopes of America. Those billions of dollars spent on needless illness will never be recovered. The costs of HIV, until now a major element, are rising rapidly with the advent of new super-drugs. These drugs cost thousands of dollars, and produce powerful side effects, which require constant monitoring and testing, also quite expensive, not to mention doctors and hospitals. When the treated people don't use the drugs properly, they produce stronger strains of HIV, immune to medicine, so we must make more medicine with more tax dollars.

We are plugged into a process of give the gays our medical dollar and medical programs, and when they produce more costs, pay for those as well, and this leads to a new level of disease, new strains of the virus, and new populations infected. It can never stop until we stop treating gays differently than any other population. We must immediately revoke the HIV Confidentiality Laws, and treat HIV like every other infectious disease.

New York State, the worst AIDS state in the country, has been struggling with the expenses of the new medications for HIV. Since New York has about 100,000 HIV/AIDS cases, and because each sick person consumes in medicines alone about $12,000, New York State, committed to paying for the medicines, looks at an expense of 12k times 100,000, or over a billion dollars, just for one year. This is not the correct figure, because it is too low. Many of the new cases are pediatric cases that are enormously expensive, and some are involved with prisons. Some cases lead on to TB and other complications. The figure does not include doctors, hospitals, testing, welfare, etc., so the actual figure is much higher.

As long as HIV/AIDS patients died, nobody cared. As soon as the new drugs appeared, in the late nineties, government suddenly woke up, and throughout the country, states began pulling back from the Confidentiality Laws. The gays, however, would not let go, and the rollback was only partial, and ineffective in curtailing the epidemic. New York State, in 1998, changed the Sanitary Code Section 2.1 to require reporting of HIV. That is the good part. The bad part is that HIV is still not on the official infectious disease list (nor is AIDS, incredibly enough). Therefore, the law makes it clear that although the sick person who comes to a doctor is reported, he does not have to report partners if he does not want to. Furthermore, anonymous testing is exempted from any reporting. Therefore, although a sick person is reported, there is not required reporting of partners, and the sick person just goes out and infects others. Nowhere is there a mention in the new regulations of quarantine, so the law has no teeth. Indeed, the text of the new regulations make it clear that the purpose of the law is to provide information and nebulous other achievements, not to force people to stop infecting.

Here is the list of infectious diseases in New York State from its website: Question: Where are AIDS and HIV? Ask the Gay Lobby.

New York State struggles between the pressures of the gays to be free to infect, and the financial costs of allowing them to create a rising epidemic. If New York State does not take a stand, it will face billions of dollars of expenses it cannot afford, without curtailing the hopes and lifestyles of its people. Those billions spend on AIDS could better be spent on saving New  York City, because you can't have both. Eventually, the nation itself must decide if it is prepared to surrender all to the gays so that they can infect and burden us with bill for their unbridled excesses.
